Looks like he decided humanity should not decide who lives or dies on the planet humans are planning to invade.
EliminarHe had been among humans for hundreds of years but, instead of watch them evolve, become better, Superman saw earthers became even worse. They had changed into a virus that had already consumed Earth and was about to spread to other planets. I don't think that destroy Earth was the answer, and I know the Superman he had been hundreds of of years before wouldn't forgive him, but I understand his decision.

Fantastic artwork, but I can't say the same about the story. On the one hand, it feels like a more nihilistic take on a theme already explored by 'Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow'. Plus, it's pretty ironic that Superman here is so happy that there's no competition among the primitive alien animals he's found. No competition? Whether they're supposed to be sentient or not, competition is the way of all life. nature, red in tooth and claw, green in root and vine. For that matter, he says humanity is supposed to evolve. How does he think evolution works, anyway? And, of course, it's the height of hypocrisy for Superman to say he can't decide who lives and dies, and then destroy an entire planet. I guess every single person on Earth was all for invading another planet? Not a single dissenter? Hey, there's that cooperation he felt humanity needed, finally!

ResponderEliminarSuperman doesn't really seem to understand evolution. Evolution requires competition. So even his precious primitive alien animals have competition in them. Otherwise they wouldn't exist. But I liked the comic, I hope to see more in the future.

I'm assuming Superman is symbolic of the Christian God who loved humanity, grew to hate, and wrought the apocalypse upon it. Interesting.
ResponderEliminarIt seems like Superman is the Anti-god. Like the Christian god in reverse. His story starts very Jesus like. Then you see him a a more powerful god like being that seems to have a disdain against humanity and eventually he destroys it.
EliminarNo it is not like the Christian God in reverse, it is exactly what the biblical God did do. He looked at humanity and didn't like where they were going so killed them all in 'the great flood'. He massacres the entire planet except for one family and some animals, this story is very similar.
EliminarI think its funny superman presents a very moral outlook on life but it is seemingly devoid of a deity. It doesnt make sense really.
ResponderEliminarVoid of God it is the strong that determine what is right and wrong. Its darwinian survival of the fittest. Its science. Why he gets so upset about the poor getting shafted and innocent species getting wiped out really makes no logical sense
I disagree. Morality is the way you decide to behave around other people and you can be an empathic and caring person while being an atheist. In fact, this same kind of simplistic approach to morality can be used the other way around: one could say that having a God to forgive you for what wrongs you may have done takes away the responsiblity of being a moral person on your everyday life.

La historia es excelente, es exactamente lo que buscas encontrar cuando lees historias de superhéroes, tanto los pensamientos, como las acciones del superhéroe van de acuerdo con el entorno en el que está viviendo. Sin duda tiene todos mis respetos.

ResponderEliminarThe art is quite good and very well done. As for the story, it's sad that the authors have such a bleak outlook on humanity and that Superman ends up being just as uncaring and shallow as the humans he passes judgement on.

EliminarHave you guy's read "Lex Luthor: Man of Steel"? It's a TPB collection (5-6 issues) that explores concepts similar to what you're using here, but on the humans' side. Lex talks about what if Superman (like your godly hero) one day decides that he doesn't want to help anymore? Why should we need his help anyway? Shouldn't he be evolving ourselves and fixing our own problems instead of being pampered by him? What if he one day (again, like your hero) decides we aren't worth saving anymore? What if he decides that it would actually be better to end our existance? And why do we empower such beings?

Great stuff. A simple, great story, but what really knocks it out of the park is that art. I can tell the writer will do some really good comics, but artist has the potential to do some of the best work in the industry. Keep it up.

EliminarGood art and storytelling. Great way to 'hide' Superman's symbol. Interesting story, yet a little naive. Anyone who has ever had a garden or been in nature can really see that even plants compete for resources, and prefer themselves over other plants. Animals are the same way. The concept of 'balance' in nature is something to be stirving for, not something naturally occuring. Humans occured naturally, and due to our own greed we have compromised the planet. Also, even 'primitive' creatures grieve for loss, anyone who has had pets or been in a farm is aware of that. So, conceptually there are some problems with the story's plot. Furthermore, the idea that Superman would fail to find a solution for a problem fails to really understand the character. While your previous Batman story (borrowing material from Bill Hicks) was one of awakening for the character to see beyond his perceived reality, this is Superman surrendering and giving up. His worst nightmare. Maybe borrow from another comedian, or a religious persona for the appropriate reference. A better story would be for him to build a ship for his own child to go to a new world to continue the cycle as Earth dies. Or Superman himself being the reason for Krypton to die. Also, for my own enjoyment this got in the way, there were many grammatical errors that could have been avoided by a simple spelling scan. All in all a good effort. But Superman's roots are in mythology and religion, maybe have his end be a sacrifice rather than genocide. Maybe releasing all his new power energy to 'heal' the planet. Or to shame humanity into being better. I don't know... Keep working. Wonder Woman should be next. That will be a true test. ALL IN MY HUMBLE OPINION!
